  Kids Company

Kids Company

 
  Kids Company was created in order to provide practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people.

The majority of the children who work with the Kids Company have severe emotional, behavioural and social difficulties, resulting from significant experiences of trauma and neglect. Many of them are ‘lone children’ living in chronic deprivation, with limited or no support from the adults in their family.

  The child-to-child massage programme has been developed as an inclusive whole school strategy for reducing children’s stress levels, aggression and bullying. The MISP is a well-structured yet simple programme which is an effective tool for improving child mental health and has had positive benefits for the children participating, such as improved concentration and increased confidence. Children are empowered to make choices and they develop respect for the needs and feelings of others.

  The NSPCC is the UK's leading children charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. The NSPCC's purpose is to end cruelty to children FULL STOP. The NSPCC runs 180 projects and services across the United Kingdom and Channel Islands, including ChildLine, the UK's free, confidential 24-hour helpline for children and young people.   The Place2Be was established in response to increasing concern about the extent and depth of emotional and behavioural difficulties displayed in classrooms and playgrounds. The programme was developed to help children and young people, (3-16 years old) with emotional and behavioural difficulties engage with their own feelings and raise self-esteem. As they begin to achieve academic and social success the number of incidents of unacceptable behaviour are reduced. It is delivered through a series of structured activities and play, as play is a natural medium which helps children and young people make sense of their world.

  Pyramid helps its local partners to run therapeutic activity clubs that are specially designed for children in primary schools who are quiet, shy, anxious, isolated, withdrawn or finding it difficult to make friends. The aim of the clubs is to provide children with a fun, positive experience, in a group, with lots of new experiences and chances to develop friendships. The clubs are run by fully trained, often volunteer, club leaders.

  Samaritans provides confidential non-judgemental emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide.
